Dennis Dunleavy is a former award-winning photojournalist with experience in daily news work and international reporting from Latin America and Mexico. He earned a doctorate in Communication and Society from the University of Oregon in 2004. His research interests include digital image ethics, photojournalism, visual practice, multi-media, visual semiotics and rhetoric, and visual persuasion. Dennis’s blog, The Big Picture, was launch in 2003. In 2006, he was recognized for his work by American Photo Magazine where he was named a “Top Innovator” in the field. Currently he teaches visual communication at Benedictine College in Atchison, Kan., where he is an Associate Profession in the Department of Mass Communications and Journalism.
